The Steemit Name Challenge

Dear Steemians,

So, here is another challenge which is doing the rounds and it is related to the name we use on Steemit, it might be our real name or it might be some name which doesn't mean your real name, just like in my case, @earthmother.

This challenge was initiated by @felobtc and I was nominated to this by my Steemit friend @coolguy123. His blog is a wonderful blog with his explanation of why he is using that name.

How did @earthmother come to be?

I think that the name has taken a life time to make.
I have always been connected to Mother Earth, from the childhood days of playing under the willow tree, playing with the crawfish in the creek, to playing with the snakes in the garden.
I was lucky to spend my childhood summers up north on the lake. My true place of connection. My love and devotion of water.

I have always picked up litter, I have always tried to save the spiders in winter, I have always nurtured the plants that others have left for dead. I have always had gardens. Even in an apartment on the balcony. I have always had a love for animals, and still take the ones that are "unwanted". I stand against drilling and blasting our mother for capitol greed. I believe that we should all have a sacred space to be. The thought of BUYING mother earth to live disgusts me. (that is a whole other blog)

I was living down south for the majority of my life. City life. I had decided 10 years ago that I would be moving off grid. I would be living simply and working towards complete self sustainability. It took 5 years to take that leap. Many of the people that I associated with called me "Earth Momma". I would help anyone that asked for help with gardening, animals, spiritual connections with mother earth. I even had chickens in the city. (which was against the rules. LOL)
I used to host spiritual workshops, meditation circles, host ceremonies, attend sweatlodges, attend teachings and understandings with first nations elders. Things that resonated with my whole being. Connecting me to what matters most. Creator and Mother Earth.

The name Earth Mother reminds me daily of why I am here. :)
