Steemit/Smart Media Token v The Little Person Who Hasnt Got Clue

Hi All Steemit Users,

Yes i am a totally beginner to steemit and my head is in a whirl with it all trying to make head and tail of it all and how to be able to hopefully make a regulary small income to help with daily life.
Then today i receive the email like all of you of the Smart Media Token and my head is just off out in space somewhere and i am just totally out of my depth and lost :-(
So does this basically mean that the little person the beginner the newbie will be pushed to the back and the likes of for example newspapers and companies be making themselves a hot little stash of cash and everyone else basically just trampled to the bottom like the government do with the entire population.
Will this benefit all and just the ones that know how to work the system of steemit inside and out.
Would love to hear your views on this or am i just totally lost with it all and got it all wrong haha.
