De-Cluttering Challenge Day 4

Hi @steemitmamas and supporters,

Day 4 already.

If you have been following along, you have already gotten rid of at least six things you don't need. You also gave some thought to your email account, your steemit account, and your discord channels.

You are doing great.

Today, get rid of FOUR things that no longer serve you.

Do you have books you're never going to read again? Craft supplies that you are never going to use? Half finished projects that you wish didn't exist?

Give yourself a break, half finished projects can be finished, or tossed, or given to a toddler for teething purposes (disclaimer: this is a joke, don't give toddlers choking hazards!) there is no contract that says you have to finish something you started. It's OK to change your mind!

"Finish what you started" is from the same parrallel universe as "eat everything on your plate" if you let your kids stop eating when they are full, then why do you force yourself to finish projects that you don't enjoy?

Which brings us to our digital challenge

One of the reasons cleaning up digital clutter is important, is because it gives us mental space. Its so nice to open your email inbox and see, new emails, and ... that's it. Having a lot of emails is like having a list of things you have to do.

Which is why we are giving digital a break and doing some mental decluttering.

make a to do list of EVERYTHING you have been wanting to do

I did this yesterday in anticipation and felt light and happy.

Include everything here. Have you been meaning to do your hair? Re-organize the kids room, buy new furniture, update your closet, write a book, de-clutter, go through a deceased loved ones possesions? Are you in need of painting your house, or cleaning behind the fridge or fixing that hole in the wall, or getting to those frames and jambs and jambliners?

You know you have that list, lose weight, start working out, make a detailed schedule of all the meals you will be cooking for the rest of your life, make appointments etc.

If you're a little like me, that list is extensive.

Make it anyway. It will feel good to see it written down.

Now walk away from the list, and breathe.

Ready for part 2?

Channel your best friend, or the mama you wish was your best friend. Think of someone loving and kind, who understands you perfectly and doesn't annoy you. Be that person for a few minutes, have a mental coffee with them.

Then show them your list.

What would they cross off? What part of you are you trying to change that they already see as perfect? Which of these things on your list should be delegated? Which part of this list is waiting for you to get a cash windfall before you can accomplish it?

Put the things you need money for on a dream board (use a page in a journal and stick figures), and use the power of visualization to bring them to reality (what else is there to do?). Delegate, delegate, delegate. Cross stuff off just because your Angel Friend thought it was a good idea, let it go. And get calendar and schedule the rest.

There is a difference between having a plan and having trail of things that have to get done. The plan feels good. The trail makes you fat and gives you gray hair. Stop producing cortisol and melanocyte.

Declutter your brain.

When I took notes for today's challenge it seemed like an easy project, but I know its a tough one. The plan above is a recipe. I read your posts, most of you don't follow recipes. But you get the idea. Bring your own flavor to the recipe but get to the gist of it - getting rid of the list of things you have to do, not by spending a whole week tackling it, but by giving yourself a break and letting go.

Thank you for reading this post even though it was longer than usual. Please, leave a comment that you participated and encourage your fellow mamas to keep going!

ops. missed day 1-3.

Never too late to hop in!

That’s right! It’s a get started Challenge, so if this is something you need - get started!

Nice @metzli! I always have a “To Do List” somewhere on my phone. It really helps me to stay organized and on track with my tasks.

I've made my to-do list. Here are my 4 things: my dog’s eye cream (he’s no longer with us), a torn iPhone 4 case, 2 broken Autogate controls.

Good job @crazymum!

Sorry for your dog, but happy you're getting that medicine out.

Welcome to @steemitmamas! My FAVORITE online community.

Oooh! Love this! Ok, now to find a quiet corner to write the extensive list. That probably means hiding in the bathroom! Except, as many of you know, we have curtains instead of doors so that doesn't actually work very well! 😜

Wish me luck mamas! And lots of love to you all!
