Groups or Tribes

So while reading https://steemit.com/censorship/@dantheman/censorship-is-impossible-in-a-free-society post
more specifically "If Steem remains a libertarian / anarchist enclave" I thought that why should it remain a kind of enclave, but how could it have many kinds of groups without mixing between themselves? A groups feature would be nice to have, not sure how it would work but ideas will always come.

I honestly feel groups could silo some of the content, much like staring through a scope and missing the bigger picture. My feed is already difficult to keep up with, however I am a fan of the idea to be able to compartmentalize and provide alternative routes to desired content.
