The place is very famous and it is also famous for its sweet coconut. People seem to blend in with the nature of the island. Cinnamon Island is another name for this place.

Cinnamon Island and Sesame Martin are located at the mouth of the Naf River, about 9 km south of Teknaf in Cox's Bazar district and 8 km west of the coast of Myanmar. According to history, the island was first discovered by Arab merchants. They used to rest on the island while traveling from Chittagong to Southeast Asia. They called this island 'Jinjira' Island. Due to this, the island became known by this name to almost everyone there. 19th century people settled in the northern part of the place. At first there were no coconut trees on the island. Later, when people started living here, they first started planting coconut trees. Once upon a time there were a lot of coconut trees here and the coconuts are also very sweet to eat. The island was later renamed St. Martin's Island by a Christian saint when the British later annexed the island to British India.
