The White Lake is one of the most enchanting beaches of Crete and remains almost unknown to most. It is located just 500 meters from the Chrysoskalitissa Monastery and 70 kilometers southwest of Chania.

The White Lake is one of the most enchanting beaches of Crete, almost unknown to everyone. It is located 500m west of Chrysoskalitissa Monastery.

At the westernmost boundary of Crete and a 5-minute walk away from Chrysoskalitissa Monastery lies the Aspri Limni, a wetland of unique beauty. The White Lake is a round lake with shallow salty water that is refreshed by the sea through very narrow passages that leave the rocks of its western side. At the White Lake we arrive from a dirt road that reaches exactly to the water. An impressive beach with a white sandy beach is created on the front of the beach, which is closed due to the fact that it is never waves even though it is located in one of the most winding areas of Crete. In the area behind the sandy beach we find the last to the west of Crete a habitat of the Cretan palm tree (palm of Theophrastus), which has about 30 palm trees.
