I absolutely love coffee. The aroma, the taste, how it can bring people together around a table etc.

We have a saying in our house, even since high school years. (My husband and I have known each other that long):

Life is too short for bad coffee.

This said, we only buy instant coffee because filtered coffee isn't found in the little, one stop sign, town we currently life in. If we had our wish we would have constantly tasted and drank all the different versions and aromas of filtered coffee, but yeah we don't. That is not such a bad thing, since because we don't often drink filtered coffee, when we do actually drink it because we are very tired, it does keep us awake!

The history of coffee

Have you ever though were did they first discover coffee, or what is the story behind it.
Coffee find it's routes way back in the 11th Century in the Ethiopian Plateau according to legend found by Kaldi. During the 15th Century trade for coffee began in the Arabian Peninsula, more specific in Yemen. By the 16th century coffee spread to Egypt, Persia, Syria and Turkey. Throughout the centuries coffee spread. Thomas Jefferson once said:
"Coffee - the favorite drink of the civilized world."

How is coffee made?

Coffee is made from coffee berries. When it is ripe, they are picked, processed and dried. These dried coffee seed are referred to as beans. They are then roasted to varying degrees depending on the desired flavor they want to achive. These roasted beans are then ground and brewed with near-boiling water to produce coffee as a beverage.

Great article @tanyaschutte! If you haven't, you and your husband should try Costa Rican coffee, the best in the world ;) Haha however I'm biased! Thank you for sharing this amazing post!

It is actually one of our favorites. We have a company in Namibia that imports coffee from all around the world. When we go to Windhoek whenever we can they are our last stop before we return. And oh it is amazing to smell and see all the different types of coffee that can be found there.

I love coffee too. I cannot imagine one single day without it. Too bad teachers usually find themselves not getting to their coffee until it's cold.

Excellent content !I love coffee too but I did n`t know about the other uses you have mentioned .Thanks for sharing
