Berard's Auditory Integration Training

Have you ever heard of AIT or better known as Berard's Auditory Integration Therapy?

No... ME neither, well not until December January 2016 when it was mentioned by the Therapist at our school.

What is Auditory Integration Triaining?
The Berard method of Auditory Integration Training (AIT) helps reorganize the brain to improve auditory and sensory processing capabilities. Participants use headphones to comfortably listen to AIT auditory stimulation. This reorganizes the dysfunctional sensory center so the brain no longer gets overloaded with disorganized information.

So, now you ask how does this fit into our educational system.
Well, it is simple. The Berard method of AIT can benefit individuals with the following problems
*Poor or short attention span.
*Think and processes slowly.
*Have a difficulty listening, understanding and remembering information.
*Understands and follows directions incorrectly.
*Struggles with the processing of sensory information.
*Struggles with the sequencing of ideas.
*Is struggling with hyper (over-sensitive) and hypo-sensitivity (tuned out) to sounds.
*Has a very low tolerance for distractions.

Think back to learners in your class, previous learners or people you might know or yourself. How many of these individuals will benefit from AIT?

In my Special Ed class all my learners will benefit from AIT and that is not even taking into consideration all the other learners in our school, teachers and some parents who will benefit from AIT.

How does it work?
Each individual will have "training" for ten consecutive days. Sometimes the sessions can be scheduled with only the weekend in between. Each day has two thirty minute sessions. There will be a 3-hour gap between the two sessions. They listen to special modulated music through the "Earducator". It is important to note that this is non-intrusive.

There are a lot of positive results due to the Berard AIT. I have seen it at our school.
We had a boy who has severe ADHD and he also had a lot off anger issues. After one session of AIT he was able to concentrate and focus on his work. His anger issues also subsided. The anger issues where still there but it was not so severe anymore.

Think about it, if there is a way other than medication, operations etc. to help people why don't we do it.
