The Adventures of Charlie: Chapter 7 – Just Parking In The Park (Comprehension Questions Included)

in #steemiteducation8 years ago

There are still a few mornings when Charlie feels slightly unloved. On these mornings his humans leave him all alone at home, with only the cat to keep him company (this highly offends Charlie). They usually make up for it however when they come back home, so his afternoons are a tad more exciting and are often spent strolling through the local park, much to the pup’s delight. Afternoons like this make him forget all about the boring mornings spent at home.

One fine afternoon he had a particularly good time. The weather was great, not too hot and not too cold, and the tiny human who tagged along was in a good mood, and if he’s in a good mood, then everyone else gets to be in a good mood too! Charlie was in his element from the moment that he stepped out of the vehicle and felt the park’s squishy grass on his toes and the gentle cool breeze on his continuously growing ears.

First stop, the slide! While the little human guy seems to get a kick out of this shiny, tilted metal thing, so does Charlie. It’s quite frustrating for the pup though, since he never seems to make it to the top, no matter of hard he tries to walk up the steps or sloped surface! That’s ok though, it’s still fun watching the little people whizz by!

Whoa, then it was time for some real fun. His human pulled out a ball and the games began! Charlie absolutely loves playing fetch and even as a young pup, he’s a pro at the game. He dashes for the ball as it is tossed and locks his jaws around it as soon as he catches it. Now he’s in two minds, does he give it back to his human, or does he hold on to it and keep it as his own? This indecisiveness leads to a tug-of-war, another one of Charlie’s favourite games!

Last but not least, a traditional romp in the river was called for. Charlie is not the biggest fan of water, he prefers being on the drier side of things, but he doesn’t mind getting his toes wet and cooling down after some heated play! He also loves the rushing sound the river makes and every now and then another dog dives into the deeper waters – Charlie thinks this is totally awesome to watch and maybe one day, just maybe, he will give it a go too!

The pup loved all the attention he got at the park. Every one thinks he is super cute (that’s what they all say) and he received plenty belly scratches and ear scrunches. In fact, he was most probably the most popular pup in the park!

Charlie ends his stroll of feeling very sleepy, he’s actually looking forward to spending another quieter day at home, at least until he recharges his energy!
