This Steem Tool is one that you cannot go without, at least once you know it exists.

Steem.Supply was created by the one and only @dragosroua, and is a very straight forward and simple to use public resource.

If you click on the first hyper link above, you should end up at the steem.supply page for my account.

It should look something like this:

Now enter your account name (without the @ symbol) in the top right "lookup" field and hit enter or click on the lookup button.

I will leave it to you to explore this site, but I should clarify a few things first.

You may notice that your rewards are listed in US Dollars in many places. If you click the "Toggle USD/STU Rewards Display" Button (you gotta click it twice for whatever reason), it will replace USD with STU for the rewards section.

To put it simply, STU just stands for Steem Token Units, and will adjust based on external market factors.

I originally tried to write out an explanation for how a Post payout works, but after several paragraphs I realized I was doing the opposite of simplifying things.

I tried again, and managed to shrink it down to the following:

  • As an author, you get at least 75% of the reward for a post payout.

  • If a post payout on Steemit.com or Busy.org says $1.00, that does not mean in US Dollars but Steem Backed Dollars. Therefore, if at the bottom of a post it shows $1.00 payout, you will get minimum 75% of that payout as an author. If you choose 50/50 Rewards (and at this point in time you should definitely go 50/50), than you would get 0.375 Steem Dollars and 0.375 US Dollars Worth of Steem Power.

Does that sound slightly complicated? It should, because it is.

  • You would not be getting 50% of the total post payout in Steem Backed Dollars, but rather 50% of your 75% (minimum) slice. You are also not getting 50% of the payout in Steem Power either.

This complicated payout ratio is necessary to prevent imbalances from occurring between Steem Dollars and Steem. This even means that if the price of Steem goes down, you will get a larger Steem Power reward. If the Price of Steem was $1 US Dollar, you would get the same amount of Steem Power as SBD for an auther payout (if you choose 50/50).

  • Steem Backed Dollars (SBD) are your liquid payout as an author, be it a comment or a blog post, to do with as you please.

  • Steem Power represents the amount of Vests (shares) you own in Steem (right now 500 Steem is about 1 Million Vests), and you should do everything you can to increase your Steem Power, as that in turn will help you create more SBD, and SBD can be used to either pay yourself by cashing out, or to build up more Steem Power. This is a need/greed cycle that many people squander, and only a few people utilize properly.

If your follow me and read my posts, and especially understand what I am doing, you will learn how to be one of the few that uses their Steem Backed Dollars to grow. I know that sounds arrogant, but it's the truth.

Thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful and prosperous day.
