What to Know about ECZEMA?
What is Eczema ? It 's also called Dermatitis, Is an inflammation or irritation of the skin characterized by itchiness, red skin and rashes. Scratching the skin can cause swelling, redness and itchy skin.
The good thing is, - It's not contagious. It is a chronic skin disorder.
WHAT IT CAUSES ?
- genetic
- environmental factors
- dry, sensitive skin
- immunity problem
I am suffering from Eczema, It is a struggle for me all the time, you are in agonizing scratching for hours. It doesn't make me sleep by night when it decides to have a flair ups. I have to take Anti histamine tablet to calm down itchiness or apply topically home made remedies.
Atopic Dermatitis is more common to Babies and children but adults can suffer too (like me), for the children who have this conditions tends to outgrow the disease as they get older, though the skin may sometimes get sensitive and dry.
KEY TRIGGERING FACTORS
- dust
- changes in climate
- stress
- certain foods
- hormones
- irritants like creams or detergents
To my experience from eczema, I needed to protect my skin so as not to trigger the flair ups by :
- Hydrating my skin ( drinking lots of water)
- using fragrance free cream
- wearing light 100% pure cotton fabrics
- eat good foods
- using gentle soaps and lukewarm water
SOME OF THE NATURAL REMEDIES YOU CAN USE FOR ECZEMA
epsom salt - is anti inflammatory and anti bacterial that can soothe irritation
oatmeal - it provides more moisture to the skin and calms down redness
olive oil - rich in moisturizer that skin needed
apple cider vinegar - is another anti inflammatory agent that soothes the itchiness
cucumber - has a cooling effect and hydrates the skin
chamomile tea - drinking a cup of chamomile sends you to a calming effect thus preventing the aggravation of symptoms
honey - extremely moisturizing and anti bacterial. advisable for sensitive skin
This is some of my home made natural remedies for my eczema and tested effective to me
epsom salt and olive oil mixing together and applying it to the skin
cotton soaked in apple cider vinegar, then apply directly to skin
oatmeal, honey and yoghurt (natural), combined all together and apply topically
