The DOs and DONTs

Hello guys, I must say I'm completely loving this place. So many things to learn, so many people to meet and so much money to make.
However, there are certain things to take note of, especially for those that are still new to the community. Here i outlined my personal list of Dos and Donts to follow to be a better stemian.

DOs

Here are some of the things you should do.

1. Learn
   Steemit isnt like other social media where you can just post anything and get a thousand likes, the mechanism here is quite different. You need to read other peoples posts, read the FAQ, ask questions and put what you have learnt to practice in order to suceed. Also remember to share knowledge with the upcoming steemians as well, because at some point, all the whales here were once minnows. So LEARN! People i tend to learn from are @exyle, @gracehills, @estheromoyiwola and so on

2. Make Friends
   Always make friends, this is a very important aspect of the steemit community. Get the Discord app and connect with steemians, connect with people in your area, be friendly. You don't know who might be a whale someday. People will get to like you and will want to check out your blog, that is how popularity starts building.

3. Comments
   Always try as much as possible to check out other steemians blogs and give reasonable comments, this shows that you are contributing to the community and someone might end up following you in return. Everyone likes when their content is being commented on, and when you do it more often they will want to check you out and a blessing might come from there.

4. Participate in Contests/challenges
   There are a few challenges/contests here on steemit. Contesting in contests is a good opportunity to gain some SBD as well as to get views on your blog. All these helps you to grow and be a better stemian. Some contests that i have participated in are #celestialchallenge by @sirknight, #ndjt by @mimy, #colorchallenge by @kalemandra etc. Get involved and socialize!

5. Post Original Content
   Post original content on your blog, always source your content/images if you aren't the author. This is because Plagiarism is highly frowned at here and could attract sanctions from steemit. Its not nice having cheetah comments on your post. This discourages viewers from upvoting or commenting on your content.

• Plagiarism
  As i mentioned before, dont take credit for works that you are not responsible for. Make sure you source well.

• Spamming
  Avoid posting your links on steemian's comment box in order to get popularity. It is highly annoying and you could get flagged for it. So stop it! Another thing is begging for upvotes. Please please, people will upvote your content because it is interesting not because you begged.

• Rudeness
  Like i mentioned before, always be nice to steemians around you. Even if someone is being rude to you, be nice. 🙂
