Arithmetic Trick: Subtraction with Additions - Part 1
Hi all steemian friends, in this occasion I will share another interesting basic trick of arithmetic, especially for students who want to master arithmetic. This trick is named as Subtraction with Additions.
Now is the dry season. You and your friend sell syrup on a street corner. On the first day you sold 32 bottles. After an hour of selling, you have only 18 bottles of syrup left. How many bottles of syrup have been sold within the hour? To find out the answer, we have to do a 32 - 18 subtraction.
Here's the ways!
Another trick in solving the subtraction problem is to try with the sum trick. Usually adding is easier than subtracting, when added with tens numbers. As long as the opponent of subtraction is a summation, to calculate 32 - 18, we can wonder in heart "18 plus how many equals to 32?" Let's try this method to solve the syrup problem!
Let's try with another example!
Always remember! First, you can use your finger to count the number of tens you have added (10 + 10 + 10 and so on). By diligently practicing, we will be able to get the answer in one step.
