Let Us Be Like Rice - An Indonesian Proverb

in #steemiteducation7 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone....
Today I would like teach you all about a proverb that we know well here in Bahasa Indonesia, which refers to rice. This proverb is often used by teachers and lecturers in our area when trying to remind students to remain patient and that patience truly is a virtue. In our language the proverb is said as follows:"Semakin tua, semakin Berisi dan Menunduk". In essence it means that people should be like rice. You see, as humans we need to remain steadfast, like rice rooted to the ground, and we should wait patiently, just like rice waits to be harvested at the perfect moment.

One of the most interesting things about rice is that while the rice grows, it gives peace to the one who views it and acts as a promise that a ready and ripe harvest is soon to come, it’s a plant of hope.
So too do we need to be like the rice, we need to live in harmony as the plants do and be an example of peace and patience.

We need to grow with the mindset that our futures are bright and our self-worth has meaning.
Hopefully this post can be to those who read it and act as a reminder of how we need to live and proceed through life.

Thanks
