The Serious Squirrel
Wally was a happy little squirrel...
His friend Lorenzo lived nearby...
Wally loved to play, frolicking in the sunshine and rolling in the leaves playfully...
Lorenzo was always hard at work... too bust gathering nuts to play with him. "Come play Lorenzo," he would shout. "It's a beautiful day and I love to play."
Lorenzo's reply was always the same: "Can't play now, there's work to be done."
Then Winter came and one day when Lorenzo was out for a walk in the snow, he found his friend...
Wally was cold and hungry... He was too busy playing when the sun was out to store any nuts for Winter.
Lorenzo told his friend: "Come with me, my house is warm and there's lots of nuts to eat."
The next fall, Wally worked harder than any of the other squirrels to make sure he had plenty to eat... He had learned his lesson.

Everybody's a critic... I squashed the grasshopper and the ant drowned in Bruno's water bowl- I fished his body out yesterday!
What a cool story of Wally and Lorenzo with such an important lesson for life. The whole thing coming with amazing photos. Great job, Rich, as always!
Thank you my friend! It's the old Ant & Grasshopper story... My friend asked me to write for her education blog and suggested some kids stories. I try to throw in a lesson. The pictures are the hard part... I wish I could draw, it's hard finding pics to suit what's going on!
I know that problem as well, for I can't draw neither. But the photos you choose here are amazingly matching with the story.

Living is no laughing matter: you must live with great seriousness like a squirrel for example - I mean without looking for something beyond and above living, I mean living must be your whole occupation.

and Wally should have become a squirrel-cicle-statue to be a warning to all of the young squirellings. That's how a children's story should end
