Yes, they are on public land, and in other places where the land owner has given permission.

Usually whoever manages an area, i.e Woodland Trust, they say they can be placed there. But they are on benches, in parks, on trains, anywhere and everywhere.

Might give this a go in the summer.

Is it very popular in Wales?

Very, I'd say the UK is one of the most popular places for them.

Snowdon, has one on Top as do most of the peaks.

I have done a few around Mid and South Wales. Some are more based in Villages and Towns, so that you don't have to travel up a mountain.

There are groups that meet up as well and Cache Together so on Halloween for example. GeoCachers from local areas can meet up, camp out, find Glow In The Dark Caches as well.

It has a nice community feel just like steemit = D

I have over 600 stored from within just North Wales, there truly are thousands = D

Great for children on walks too as a good distraction. My god daughter will walk for miles when caching, but on a normal walk complain her feet are tired.
