You are right, poem will help you to understand math for long run. But you have to know that math is a matter of practice.

@ogejoy is right, @cutiepie and @ziarul31. There is a little poem to memorize the subtraction with regrouping;
"More on the top, no need to stop
More on the floor, go next door and borrow 10 more"
May be you just seen the worksheets but the poem is after the beginning paragraph.
