Biology Lesson : Excretion System of Aves

Excretion System of Aves

Every living thing must have the organs of the body with each task function. The performance of each of these organs will ultimately affect each other, the performance of this organ is called the system. In the body of a living being itself there is at least a respiratory system, digestive system and excretory system. And in this discussion we will discuss more about the excretion system on the aves which consists of kidney, lung and skin.

The excretory system exists in all living creatures in order to facilitate the removal of nitrogen rich minerals, as well as additional waste products. The excretion process also serves to normalize water and ions in the body. Birds and reptiles differ in many ways, yet the function of the excretory system of species is actually remarkably similar in purpose. Read more.

Kidneys

Like humans, aves also have kidneys that act as excretion systems on aves. A pair of kidneys found in birds have a brown color and type of metanefors. Kidney type metanefros this has a characteristic that has no special segment, there are no inefrostoma and has a lot of glomerulus. The relationship between the kidneys with each other affect each other's function and performance in the bird's body. The function is to take the substance from the rest of the form of blood but will form a urine.

In aves there is no bladder or vesica urinaria, so the ureter channel will go directly to the cloaca. the posterior orifice that serves as the only opening for the digestive, reproductive, and urinary tracts (if present) of certain animals, opening at the vent, Thus, the bird has only one exhaust hole in its body called the cloaca. This can be practically practical, but if there is damage to the tract then it certainly can make losses and even death in birds.

Lung

Breathing birds using his lungs. Pulmonary lungs present in birds are a pair and can be found on the part of her chest cavity that is protected as a human rib. The main function of the lung is none other than to remove the gas in the form of carbon dioxide resulting from the body's cell metabolism.

The respiratory pathway that occurs in birds.

  1. At first the air will enter through the nostrils in the beak
  2. Air will enter the body through the trachea
  3. Tracheas that resemble the pipe will bring air into the lungs to do the body's metabolism
  4. Air that has been in though, will be issued again in the form of CO2 compounds.

In addition, in the bird's body there are also 4 pairs of air purse pundi or often referred to as an air sac that can usually spread to the abdomen, neck and wings. This air sac has a very close relationship with his lungs, which can make the bird breathing becomes more efficient.

The other functions of the air bag include:

  1. Can lighten the bird's body when the bird is flying
  2. Can harden the sound of birds by enlarging part of the siring room
  3. Can help birds to maintain their body temperature and prevent excessive heat temperature under certain conditions.
  4. Helps bird breathing during flight by storing oxygen reserves.

Skin

The skin is one of the extraction system on the aves that will generally coat his body. However, the skin of birds that have this particular function can be found on the back of the body, more precisely on the tail of birds or uropygium. In this section there is little skin in which there is oil glands. Oil glands have a function of the task to produce oil that will be distributed throughout the body of the bird so that the feathers do not quickly wet when exposed to water. In addition, the oil glands also serves to store food reserves in the form of fat to keep the birds needs are met.

Keep in mind that there are some birds that live in a dry environment, for example here is a desert bird. In birds of this type certainly has its own way of adaptation, unlike the birds that live around us. They will adapt by converting waste compounds containing nitrogen into insoluble uric acid and can certainly be excreted without much water.
