It's my pleasure to write this article on what the new steemians(minows) and others needs to do and know to gain popularity.

I joined steemit.com on the 18th october 2017, although I haven't earned so much, but I have learnt so much which has really given me hopes and assurance that if I put more effort and be teachable, it will really pay off in the nearest future, so I realized that most of our new steemians has really lacked behind on the ethics, strategies and guidlines on how to become more popular and significant in the steemit community, so I decided to put together some of the things I personally has learnt that has really helped me overtime, but due to differences in perspective and mode of learning, it may not necessarily work for you the same it does for me, but it may be a guide towards discovering your own personal ways of gaining popularity.

TIPS ON HOW TO GAIN POPULARITY AND SUCCESS IN STEEMIT

• ORIGINALITY

Steemit.com is the number one platform that promotes original contents unlike other social media platform, so for you to anticipate success, you must avoid plagiarism and only publish original content which has not been publish in any other social media platform, but if at all you have any content that is not from you, you must include the link/source of that content in your article otherwise, the steemit robot @cheetah will visit your blog and upvote your post, and if that happens, you are on the verge of loosing your steemit account.

• SOCIALISE AND ENGAGE PEOPLE

One of the secret I have learnt about steemit is that if you can socialise with others by engaging them on their blogs, you will gain more success and popularity and you can't engage them without reading their posts and commenting creatively,creative and tought provoking comments will draw peoples attention to your blog thereby following you and wanting to know more about you, and by so doing, you will be noticed and many people will wants to drink from the well of your knowledge, so reading, creatiing thought provoking comments, and other forms of engagement will get you noticed by others.

• PUBLISH LESS BUT COMMENT MORE

Steemit unlike other blogging sites is that unique community through which one of the ways people can see your articles is by following you, and the number of followers you have also determines the number of upvotes you will get on your posts at the end of the day, so it is mandatary as a newbie(minow) in steemit, instead of posting two to three posts daily, you can publish just one article daily and use other time to create outstanding and creative comments on people's articles, the more creative and informative the comment you drop on peoples post, the more you will get followers and the more followers you get, the more your articles gain more visibility and goes viral, and that also determines the more upvotes you are bound to get from your articles, apart from the followers you will get from your creative comments, you can as well earn more by commenting if only the author is a cheerful giver, at times I earn more from commenting than publishing a post, so take time to read and comment creatively in other people's post.

• HAVE A NICHE AND CREATE A VALUABLE AND INFORMATIVE CONTENT

A niche is what you specialise in, what you know how to do well and what you are known for, your ninch is your personality, to remain relevant and popular in steemit, you must have a niche and your articles must be informative and value added to your readers, consistent publishing will gain you popularity in the community.
It's better not to post at all than publishing less-informative and less value added article because it ruins your reputations and personality.

• EXPLORE AND USE THE RIGHT TAGS

Tags contribute to the high visibility and popularity of your contents or posts, therefore to gain more visibility on your post, you must use the right tags for the right article, using wrong tags for your article will lead to low visibility of your article and possibly flagging of your post and account, and if you account is being flag, you are on the verge of loosing such account.

• YOU MUST BE TEACHABLE

Steemit unlike other social media platform is very wide and unique, so to beable to understand more about the platform, you must be open to learning new things daily and also to beable to accept some changes from what you've known before, and this learning includes visiting the blog of high reputation and influencial steemians to learn from their mode of creativity(writing), all the ethics, rules and regulation guiding the community, mastering all these will assure your success as a blogger here in steemiy.com.

• RESTEEM OTHER PEOPLES POST THAT WORTHS RESTEEMING

This is one of the ways your articles can gain more visibility because resteeming a post in one's blog simply implies that all the followers of the resteemer will beable to see the resteemed article, and that can give the author of the post more upvotes and followers, as a newbie(minow) you can earn some dollars from resteeming someone's article in your blog if only the author of that article is a cheerful giver by commenting on the article article resteem.

I personally start resteeming original and informative content I see from other people so as to save such contents on my blog to retrieve the information at anytime I need it, so it's good to resteem other people's article as that can gain you more popularity.

• FOLLOW VALUE ADDED PEOPLE

As a newbie, it's very advisable you don't follow anyone you see but rather follow people of value who creates original, value added and informative articles, by so doing, you learn from their posts and also have reasonable comments to make as that can earn you more followers in return, so do not follow because someone has followed you, only follow because that person has something to offer you.

• INVEST IN STEEMIT

Steemit is such an amazing platform that you can invest in by buying more steem to convert it to STEEM POWER which will give you high VOTING POWER AND PAYOUT, and this activity will make you more influencial and popular in the community and at at the end of the day you earn beyond what you invested, so as a newbie, don't just come to steemit in search for greener pasture alone, but if you have the capital to invest in it, do so and you will have nothing to regret but everything to appreciate about.

• GET A MENTOR

This one of the thing that will assist you to succeed in steemit, as a newbie, you must learn from someone who has been in the game before you, someone who has more experiences and has made tremendous success in the journey of blogging, this person should be someone who will be there for you at any time you need his/her attention, but while choosing a mentor, you must choose someone with good reputation who knows what he/she is doing, if you learn from a professional, you will be a professional, but if you learn from a quack, you will become a quack, so choose wisely.

• ALWAYS USE ATTRACTIVE THUMBNAIL PICTURE

Thumbnail picture is the picture that will summarize the content of your articles which will display in your when posted online, this is usually the first picture that you upload in your post before any other pictures, so this picture must be attractive, inviting and appealing, it must be able to draw people's attention to your articles, this can be a tremendous help to the popularity of your articles and more traffic to your blog, so do ensure you use an attractive picture as your article's thumbnail.

• ALWAYS USE A GOOD ENGLISH, AND DO CROSS-CHECK YOUR ARTICLES BEFORE PUBLISHING IT

Never be on a hurry to publish a post for it's better not to publish than to publish articles that is full of mistakes, grammatical error and wrongly use of words and expression, your articles depicts your personality, so the way you organize,your articles speaks more of what you really are, so do well to edit your content and review it effectively before pressing the POST BUTTON.
