DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RATIO AND A RATE.

Today we are doing something very important, the difference between a ratio and a rate. These can be a bit confusing, but they are actually not.

Once you watch the video you will see that the only thing we need is a comparison between 2 things.

If we do not have a comparison it is not a ratio it is a fraction.

By having different things like time and miles it will become a rate.

If you watch this video, you must really think very hard about how it is explained so that you can see what the difference between a fraction and, ratio as well as a rate.

We will find that we use a lot of ratios in the real world and they might look like fractions but because they represent two things they become ratios.

Something else we have to remember is that a rate is always measured in time.

A fraction might look like a ration but in the question, you get like in a word problem, you will soon see if it is a fraction or a ratio.

That is the reason we did word problems a few days ago. If you use the system that they use there you will very soon know what is the fraction or the ratio in your word problem.

All children are scared of word problems but they really do not have to be if they go back to my posts and go through the word problem post I did a few days ago.

Here this lady explains how to take the important stuff that you really need and get rid of the things they say just to mix you up you will never have a problem.

This will really help you to see what is what.
So please watch this video and really concentrate on what is being said. We also know that a ratio can be written in a different way, like 1:2. Instead, of writing it as a fraction and then you will know that they are talking about a ratio.

So enjoy this and really practice as these can help you with your problem maths as well.
