Measuring the Liquid Volume Using USA Standard Units

In North America we use Gallon as the standard to measure the liquid volume and derive the other units of volume from it. The smaller units are quarts, pints, cups and ounces. There are 4 quarts in a gallon and 8 pints per gallon. 

Also to measure larger volume we have Barrels. One Barrel is equal to 42 gallons. 

Now, can you imagine how many quarts in a barrel?

I prepared the following activity for 3rd grade students to get familiar with the concept;
