Introduction to Long Division Method
Long division is a method to divide larger number in multiple steps. Each step itself is a small one step division problem which needs sound knowledge of times-tables and basic division.
In 3rd grade kids need just the introduction to the method and how to write a division fact using the division brackets.
3rd grade math students should know how to solve one step division problems using the division brackets. This helps to solve multi-step division problem for grade 4 and 5. Below are the three basic worksheets on the concept. In third worksheet there is introduction to the remainder. Many times after dividing one number by another which is not a multiple of divisor then the remaining part is known as REMAINDER.
As you said in your previous reply, the bracket method was thought to us first. It's a step by step approach, we were supposed to learn the first division method before the bracket because it makes it easy to solve the bracket method. Just as you teach, I hope other maths teachers will do the same. Thanks for sharing
