Finding and Comparing Areas of Rectangles

When working on the explore the concept of area the bast way to jump start is to draw some rectangles on a grid paper. Understanding areas of rectangles is very easy as they are the best symmetrical shapes in two dimensions hence eye catching.

There can be multiple rectangle shapes with the same area and we will utilize this aspect to teach about area in 3rd grade math. Below are the two activity sheets I prepared to clear the concept;
