RE: Question Of The Week: "What is the greatest gift you have ever given or could give

Thirty years ago friends had moved to yonder shores, taking their beloved down syndrome child to protect him better in older age to a country that cared for special people.

Alas within the first few years he ran out into a village street, not a busy place. But as accidents happen, a car struck the child and he did not recover.

The parents decided there and then his life would not be in vain, the little he had spent with them, and donated organs immediately once they were fully aware of the gravity of the situation.

Even whilst in deep shock, not having come to grips with their loss the organ donations went through.

Four other children, recipients of the organs went on to live full and happy lives, yes the Doctors in the country they adopted did keep them informed, since the gift they had given was so large.

Lessons in life @bigbear we learn every day, loss of a child is something we never anticipate, giving is a gift no matter the age.

Bitter, sweet memories of little Keith a very special child, who would have been 33 years of age right now.

Thank you so much joanstewart, this really warms my heart as it is so sad to loose a child. It was very kind of them to donate and the doctors were very kind to them, must have made them feel that they really helped. Love your reply and thanks for your support.
