Good feelings are important. Good educators know from experience that children learn better when they feel satisfied with themselves. Making reference to whether or not the child has self-confidence, or if he has feelings of self-worth and importance.

What children think may be more important than you think. Surely this statement may be contradictory, but it is considered that most young people and adults who are involved in serious problems have very negative opinions of themselves, that is, undervalue their own person.

If a child does not have good opinions about himself or other people, his learning will be more difficult. Having no better concept of himself, the child will not try hard enough, will not want to learn, will not be interested in succeeding.

The concept of oneself is something learned. It is taught at home and at school, either through actions, words and behaviors. But, How can we help children to have a better concept of themselves. Here are some tips:

1. Try to have a happy home:

Nothing contributes more to the child feeling satisfied with himself than to belong to a home and a happy school. Parents and teachers have a great influence to help develop this feeling. Children need to feel that they have a home and a school where they enjoy some freedom, but also where they know that there are rules of coexistence. If they know they will be treated fairly, with respect and fairness, they will feel better and comfortable.

2. Encourage the "I can do it":

If the first years of the child's life have been good, it will be difficult for it to deteriorate in the school years. They should always think about being able to do things, if they have this feeling or belief, they will be more willing to learn. When you begin to read and write, you will need to feel that you have the capacity, that you are capable and important. It is important then to establish defined goals, to give it the opportunity to develop without pressing it and without comparing it with others. Help him develop this feeling, encouraging him when he thinks he can not do something.

3. Show interest in what your child does:

Get your children to feel proud of the things they do. Children always bring their activities or tasks to their parents and this is because they feel pride and satisfaction for what they have achieved and want you to feel it too. Try to congratulate him, tell him how much he liked it, the pride he feels and encourage him to continue. Praise him.

4. Make your birthday an event:

The child needs to feel happy and happy with himself. The date of your birth is a day in which you can strengthen that feeling, so make your birth a special moment.

5. Look it in the eyes:

Every time you can, look your child in the eye. Listen to what you have to say, as an intelligent parent knows that listening can play an important role in making the child feel worthwhile. Your child will know that you care about him. If you stop long enough to look at it while hearing what you have to say, you can help your child feel self-satisfied, it's the best way to say "you're worth it", "you're important".

6. Teach you to be useful:

Your child may be too young to do certain tasks, but he can always perform actions in which he is taught to be useful. This is important because if the child feels useful in the family, there is a greater chance that he will feel satisfied with himself.

7. Success breeds success:

When children are successful, they begin to trust their abilities. Generally, the more they believe they can do, the more they achieve. Therefore, teach him that he can do some things well and that in some others difficulties will arise, nevertheless before the obstacles we should hope for the best.

You are a fortunate father if your child can say "I am satisfied with myself". If your child truly feels that way, you will have a better chance of getting better school results and daily living. You can play an important role in promoting this feeling, praising it, congratulating it, giving it tasks that make it feel useful, making it feel an important person in its own right and helping it to know that your family wants and respects it.

Remember also that feelings are demonstrated according to the level at which they were taught. This is the secret to a good start in life, to teach your child to face it. You are his example and as such he should behave.
