I think that a critical success factor in life is to have self-discipline. It is almost impossible for a person to succeed, without a good habit of self-discipline. It is a trait seen in many great athletes, musicians, business people, and entrepreneurs.

Parents and teachers will always tell their children and students about the importance of self-discipline, as once you set a goal you need the determination to see it through, without self-discipline the goal or dream will disappear in a puff of smoke.

It is a trait that many people aspire to, but they cannot seem to grasp how to actually become self-disciplined themselves. They might have the resolve at the start, but not the determination to see it through.

For example, someone might start looking at how to speed read on Youtube, as that would help them towards their goal of learning faster, but they get distracted by the other videos, or something else catches their eye and in a few days the original plan remains uncompleted.

As a result, that person might believe that they cannot be self-disciplined as they didn't manage to do it that time and if they tried again the same thing might happen. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy and it is a hard cycle to break.

But is it so hard to build self-discipline?

It is hard if you do not know how to do it, but easy if you know how.

You'll have to be self-disciplined enough to come back to my blog tomorrow and then I will give you a simple and easy way to become self-disciplined.
