Maybe reading a great story will improve your perceptions of other people. Science had confirmed it, that reading can and does have powerful effects on our cognition, social and others.

Literary fiction, just like watching TV, works like a flight simulator, only it trains you to avoid crashing and burning as a human than a pilot.

"Fiction is a kind of simulation, one that runs not on computer but on mind: a simulation of selves in their interactions with others in the social world... Based in experience and involving being able to think of possible futures," cognitive psychologist Keith Oatley is quoted is saying.

There is even a thing called bibliotherapy, according to the New Yorker, where you consult an expert who prescribes a reading list to help to you to work thru whatever psychological issues are troubling you.

For example, Bill Gates, Elon Musk and Warren Buffet and our own Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir are all voracious readers of fiction and non-fiction. Barack Obama even once explained that, "When I think about how I understand my role as a citizen... The most important stuff I've learnt I think I've learned from novels."

Judging by the time they make for literature in their schedules, many super successful folks clearly already believed in the benefits of fiction.

The sum total of science on the subject says reading fiction really will make you a little nicer and more empathetic.

Many people thought that books will be extinct when E-books take over the world by Kindle, apps in Play Store, Android; and apps in Apps Store , IOS.

The e-books available are of course copyrighted, but renowned authors knew better that they should have printed a physical item rather than electronic because they are proud of their works - made out of their own time, blood and sweat - I've not mentioned money. If e-book, there is a risk of being sent to another person without author's knowledge, thus will suffer a loss in copyright fees. Just like the case of WHY MEN LOVE BITCHES by Sherry Argov. She totally lost it with this book and after she published WHY MEN MARRY BITCHES, there was no e-book at all, completely protected.

The future of printed novels seems to be bright as the sales of paperbacks continued a steady five-year rise in the US.

Despite Amazon's omnipresence, the number of independent bookstores has also increased in the States.

Why are people returning to old-fashioned printed books despite earlier predictions that technology would be the demise of deep reading?

It is because E-books hurt our eyes and health. Seriously.
