Is physical education really necessary?

What attacked Grandpa's heart, and where is the heart?

How does an arm break?

Where is the baby inside the mother's stomach?

Where does the food go when it is swallowed?

Confusion and the kind of inquisitiveness that children have about how their bodies work, will always remain interesting and teachable. The myths and misconceptions that begin in early childhood fantasy often continue until people become knowledgeable about their body parts and functions.

Teachers in early education can dispel these myths by helping children understand their body parts and how they function. For teachers to be effective and for children to feel empowered to maximize their health status, both should become aware of the developmental process and how body systems develop and function, particularly from a life cycle perspective. This enables teachers to present the information clearly and children to understand the immediate effects of their actions and behaviors on the major body systems. Such early education will help students maintain a harmonious balance among the various body systems and promote their bodies' optimal functioning as a central component of personal good health.

Keeping children active and physically fit is important to their health status. Improving a child's physical fitness requires improving the child's cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility.
Classroom teachers can integrate developmentally appropriate physical activity into their curriculum. They can intertwine information about the health benefits of staying active into their daily lesson plans.

Physical education classes provide many opportunities for students to learn and develop fundamental movement skills and concepts. As children become skillful, they learn to combine movements so they can participate in a number of physical activities.

How can classroom teachers contribute to increasing children's health status?

  • Whenever possible, make learning a physically active process.
  • Teach them about obesity, the food pyramid, portion sizes, eating disorders, vitamins, nutrition, etc.
  • Help them make sense of basic knowledge about the intestines, skeletal system, muscles and so much more.

This provides guidance and brings health education and physical education together.

Is physical education really necessary?? What do you think?

Wow @ghostgtr! Long time no see!
Welcome back to @steemiteducation. We have missed your posts.

Physical education has a very strong social and mental development component, including anticipation, strategy, teamwork, communication, and spacial awareness. These help with things like problem solving and other aspects of school and everyday life. It is an important part of the development of a child, and adults as well.

Physical education is an important phase in a child development. If well incorporated with sex education, it will expose the child to the mental, social and physical developments he/she needs

Physical education is necessary. The human body is design to walk and do physical things, not just sitting around all day. If I had the say in the US system I would give PE a required class every day. Not far to force the kids to sit around 6-8 hours days and expect them to do that 5 days a week for almost 20 years of their lives. Some even more. Yikes.

Nice and very educating

pure western minds , every education is necessary . look at yourselves , hard to imagine so stupid so called humans today .

This is a ridiculous comment!
