People that are under pressure are more comforted by someone who listens patiently to their words. It shows that someone wants to understand their situation. So in such case, its better to listenly silently and patiently, before knowing what course of atcion to take.

There is an old proverb that says "every man be late to speak and soon to hear" ... You are definitely right in what you say, we help people more knowing how to listen to what they want to externalize than giving a lot of advice that many times are useless because we have not heard them, if we do not listen to people it will be very difficult to understand the moment they live, for these reasons silence, in this sense it is worth gold.
