CINEMATOGRAPHY: Camera Angles
The angles of the camera shots shift the way you perceive the characters and react to situations.
A. High Angled Shots
These are taken from above.
- These shots detract from the character, making him or her less significant, unimportant or vulnerable at that particular moment.
B. Aerial Shots (Bird's Eye View)
These are taken from directly above.
- They are similar to high angled shots, but have a more extreme effect.
C. Low Angled Shots
These are taken from a low perspective upwards.
- The intention is to make the character appear more powerful and important.
D. Underhead Shots (Worm's Eye View)
These are taken from directly below.
- They are similar to low angled shots, but have a more extreme effect.
E. Eye-Level Shots
These are the natural filming and viewing of characters and scenes.
- The effect is usually neutral.
