Bible stories for Kids 22 - The story of Moses - Part 2

Exodus 2:11 - 21

Moses grew up in the house of Pharaoh. He became a very wise and important man. Moses knew that he was not an Egyptian, but that his true parents were Israelite slaves.

One day when Moses was 40 years old, he decided to go and see what his people were doing. He saw that his own people were forced to work very hard.

Then he saw how an Egyptian man was beating a Hebrew man. Moses looked around and when he saw that no one was watching he killed the Egyptian and buried him in the sand.

The next day Moses went to his people again. He thought he could help them so that they would no longer be slaves. While he was there he saw two Israeli men fighting. Then Moses said to the one whose fault it was; Why are you beating your brother? The man then said to Moses; Now who do you think, appointed you as a judge over us? Are you also going to kill me now as you killed that Egyptian.

Moses got scared when he heard it. He realized that he is now in great trouble. When Pharaoh heard about what Moses did he decided to kill Moses.

Moses decided to run away and went to the land of Midian. He was sitting by a well when the priest of Median, Jethro's, daughters came to the well with their father's flock.

There were some shepherds who tried to drove them away but Moses got up and helped them and watered their flock. When they came back their father asked; Why are you back so soon? They answered; there was an Egyptian man that saved us from the shepherds and he drew enough water for us and the flock.

Their father Jethro's asked; so where is this man? Go call him so he can eat bread with us.

Moses became a shepherd and looked after Jethro's sheep. Moses was content to live there and Jethro gave Moses one of his daughters, Zipporah to marry.

Then Moses and Zipporah had a son who was called Gershom which means; I have been a stranger in a foreign land.

In the next story I will tell you what an amazing thing happened that changed Moses' entire life.

Remember the Bible is not just a made-up story. It is the word of God and it is a true story. Everything happened exactly as the Bible tells us.

Thank you for reading.
