Going offtrack? 3 things to do if your new year's resolution is not going as planned!

Introduction

At the beginning of each year, lots of people set goals that they want to achieve by year's end. They usually write them down and keep it somewhere - maybe in a file. Some goals are large and others are small like buying a new house, stopping a bad habit, acquiring a particular skill, etc. Making resolutions at the beginning of a year is great, but achieveing them is challenging in fact, most people struggle to achieve half of their resolutions. So now, the year has gone half. Are you on track towards achieving those goals? If you are yet to achieve even one of those resolutions an its halftime already, here are 3 tips that will help you make full use of the remaining half.

1. No matter the order, start from the easiest ones now: Yes, its possible that you also wrote when to achieve each goal, but unfortunately, you have lost time. So check your resolutions again and start from the ones that are easiest and will take the least time to achieve. If there is a resolution that will take 2 months and another that will take 3 weeks, start from the one of 3 weeks. If you start from the ones that will take more time, you might end the year achieving just few of the goals. But if you begin now from the ones that will take the list time, you end up achieving more with the remaining little time.

2. Take steps each day to achieve your resolutions: The biggest obstacle to achieving your resolutions is procrastination. So from now on, do not put off taking steps to achieving your resolutions. Make it a habit to do a small part of the work each day. No matter how busy your schedule is, do not forget to do something each day no matter how little. Once you form a habit of doing something each day, it becomes part of you and you wont even think about doing missing it each day.

3. Mark your progress: It is best to use a calendar to track each resolution you achieved. Put it on the wall or some other place where you can easily see it. Each day you did something towards achieving your resolution, mark it and try to follow up every other day. See each progress clearly marked will motivate you to keeping doing it. With such consistent and determined efforts, you will make the most of the remaining time to achieve your resolutions.

Conclusion

Its bad to loose time on your resolutions for the year, but its worst not to achieve any at all. So work hard to utilize the remaining time and be happy with each progress made. Try to be determined and never miss each day, do something everyday. At the end of the year, you will be happy you salvaged the remaining to achieve much of your resolution for the year.

Dwelling on things is losing the time to do the things I could have done.

To me a hurdle is always near
The end of a task because it is usually the most difficult task to complete. Therefore I fail to complete many things. The point though is know perfection is not possible when time is limited. Do as much and a separate best I can with what I have and appreciate the outcome no matter what. That eases the feelings of facing obstacles along the way of completing a task. Thanks!

@focusnow, One thing is for sure and that is, we should not think that big things should be finished first because many stuck in this process because big stuff most of the times put all the weight. So, small steps is vital and once we are in the flow then we can achieve in alignment. Stay blessed.

Often we don't mark progress when we do the little ones. We only see what we aren't able to do and don't appreciate what we've been able to do.
