Getting out of your vacation mode and back into your working routine in the classroom can be tricky and getting your mindset right even more difficult.

That's why it's very important to prep your mental and physical health for the back-to-school season upon you. Adapting to your normal routine can be a bit challenging the first few weeks, especially getting back into it after a long break, whether it was a holiday or sick leave period.

If you are struggling to get your lesson plans in order and your energy levels to high, try these methods to keep you mentally and physically intact the whole year:

Dear Diary,

Pen down your good and bad thoughts about each day and make a list of things that you could have done better or what you are proud of for that day. Writing down your feelings and thoughts and reading them back to yourself can improve your way of thinking and dealing with situations in and around the classroom.

According to psychologists, keeping a journal or writing down your daily thoughts can boost your immune system.

Hoooooosa

We all know this phrase all too well when counting to 10 simply just doesn't do it anymore. When you are stressed or upset about something in the classroom, try to take a step back and focus on your breathing for a few seconds. When your heart rate lowers your mood will too.
This could be a tricky one but practice makes perfect!

Put yourself first

It's really okay for ALL teachers to just sometimes think of themselves and let a little loose by going to bed early or catching up on that series you haven't gotten around to or even just kick back with a book that was not part of the year's sillibis. You are the key player in the classroom and if your mental and physical health are not up to par, you won't be able to handle your tasks, not even to mention the children.
Also try to maintain a healthy diet and exercise plan as well as a balanced relationship with your students by treating them to some down time or a movie in class time so that you can focus on completing your tasks in time.

Being R E A L I S T I C

There are always a lot of pressure on the teachers to go above and beyond their teaching plans and to get the most out of their students, however, you as their teacher is the only one who faces them every single day and get to know them on a personal level and see what they are capable of producing in a certain time frame.
Believe in your methods and keep to your style. Believe in your students and use positive reinforcements to grow with them and your results may even be better at the end of the year than expected.

Stay true to YOU

It's very easy to have good days and feel amazing when something good happens, but when you have a bad day or week it's so much more difficult to bounce back and keep the balance of keeping your job out of your home and visa versa. On these days it's so important to know who you are and stay true to you.
Keep photos and notes and positive messages on your desk or in your class to constantly remind you that you are here for a reason, you have been blessed with a talent to educate children and prepare them for their futures. You are a huge part of a new generation's growth period and you are amazing!!
