How to make the classroom discussion to be active?

In today's the most effective way of learning is the interaction between one student with another student and between students with teacher. Science is not just pegged to books or teachers only. Good learning is done with understanding and discussion.

In some countries it has been applying such learning methods. Classes become active with discussion. But some countries are still monotonous in the learning process. Teacher is still the sole orator. In some places teachers sometimes try to implement a discussion system. But not running smoothly because students are not active.

Well, how to make the class become active with discussion. Here are some ways.

Understand the material

As an educator of course the teacher must understand about the material that will be taught. But understand is not enough. Teachers should know more about the material that will be taught. The teacher must really know the material relation to each other.

It is necessary because during the discussion the teacher will be the one who straightens the wrong things. Therefore, the teacher must be right about the subject matter. For example the teacher is teaching about the animal breathing apparatus. Well, teachers must know the difference between the respiratory tools of fish and birds. For example.

So listeners

During the discussion, the teacher did not have to take the main part. Teachers need not be the most active part of the discussion. Teachers should be listeners. A good listener. Listen to all their ideas, insights, and ideas. If they ask then the teacher explains.

Stacking benches correctly

When the discussion in the classroom bench or table should be properly arranged. Form a circle O or liter U. This greatly facilitates interaction.

Give appreciation

Give appreciation of each explanation. No need to be expensive but enough with a round of applause, a nod of a head or a smile. This helps to build students' self-confidence.

Teachers must be active during passive classes

At the end of the discussion the teacher must re-explain correctly and accurately related to the newly discussed learning materials. Teachers must clarify what is right and what is wrong. The teacher should appreciate all the courageous attitudes to explain.

Active classes will make students think and when students start thinking then the class is running. They are learning. As a teacher it is fitting to aim for education.
