Steemit: Beyond What I Thought!

Hello steemit family, I’m excited to welcome you to my blog again today. Hope you’re doing great. As usual, I like sharing whatever knowledge I gather at every step of the way as I journey to better days here. I joined steemit a few weeks ago, and sincerely when I came in, I thought all that lay for me was to post my blog, upvote other’s posts and comment on them and get rewarded. Well, that sounded pretty good and simple to me. And I looked forward to doing this. But as I stay longer here, I got to discover that being on steemit is beyond the knowledge I came in with. I got to know that Steemit is a very big community and that it's a school of its own. Why do I say this? It’s because you need to keep learning to grow here. You need to update your mind system with new information to grow with the trend.
One of the things I was taught was to make friends, interact, build friendships and be proactive. My boss @antigenx encouraged me to join other groups and interact. So I started to join groups. Of course I was birthed into the Antigenic Revolution Recruitment Scheme and @steem-x family, but my boss would always say, “don’t depend on this group alone to make it on steemit. Go out there, interact and make friends.” So I took to the advice and started to explore. I joined the @euronation group but unfortunately I was kicked out because I broke one rule. Hahaha! I was surprised. So I accepted my fate and chose to move on.
Now, one of the thing I discovered here is that if you become part of a community, and you’re active, you’d get the support you need to grow. So I started to receive invite links to join different communities and I didn’t hesitate to hop into these boats. Since I joined them, I have gotten a lot of support that’s making my stay here worthwhile. I’d do well to drop their links here so you can join and be supported too.
My first family, the @steem-x family. Join us on discord.
https://discord.gg/pExDpxThe @asapers family. Highly recommended. This is a very useful group because if your blogs and content are of high quality, your blog could be picked as the blog of the day for curation where you get maximum votes from this family. With this, you no longer have to worry of putting so much effort into your work yet receive little output because you’re still a minnow. I was so thrilled when just within 2 days of joining this community my article was picked for curation, and got lots of upvotes.
https://discord.gg/DVBGUb@reachout family. A great support for minnows from Nigeria to give them the platform they need to come to the steemit limelight. Here is their discord channel link.
https://discord.gg/cddcbC@steemprivate is another wonderful family I have been a part of with wonderful members support for one another. Join their telegram platform via this link and the curation trail.

My First Customer Witness Live Meeting With @dobartim
So, when I joined steemit I heard that there are some people with so much influence in the steemit community called Whales and that one upvote from them could possibly land lot of SBD into your wallet. I heard of the testimony of a guy who said his post was upvoted by only two whales and he made $100 SBD from that post which he eventually used to purchase a laptop. My mouth opened in awe as I heard that. So I began to watch out to when the whales will finally land on my blog. Haha. Funny right? Oh yea. I’m still waiting anyway. So if you’re a whale reading this, don’t just read and pass by. You know what I mean.
Anyway, my orientation of steemit changed two days ago when I was invited to join a discord group. On getting there, I was excited to discover that this group is actually run by @dobartim. For those of you that don’t know him, @dobartim is a big whale on steemit. His one upvote can put lot of smile on your steemit wallet. He's also the Founder of Steemit School worldwide. This school aims to recruit new students to steemit and teach them just to succeed here. It’s not a virtual learning platform but a real physical school. So far, steemit school has been founded in Macedonia, Nigeria, Philippines, India, Los Angelos in US. It’s a big dream and project to help people do something meaningful with their lives. You can follow @steemitschool on steemit.

What I learnt from This Meeting.
The Customer Witness Live meeting yesterday with @dobartim which lasted for about an hour plus taught me a lot of things I need to do to succeed in steemit. One of the moderator, @flysky from Los Angelos emphasized so much on getting things right here so you won’t be frustrated. He wants minnows to get it right from the beginning. These were some of the points I gathered which I believe will help you too.
- To get people’s attention, leave useful comments on their blog, especially those you admire and want to be noticed by them. Don’t just upvote and run away. That won’t get the job done. Comment. Comment.
- Post new blog every day. Hmmm! This seems like a daunting task especially for those of us just starting out. The reason is to get people engaged with your blog. Some people don’t like upvoting a post after 2-3days. They like it hot and sizzling, so keep your blog hot too.
- Follow people who will be willing to look you and give you some support. Don’t go on a following spree, just following anybody. Check the influence and credibility of those you’re following.
- It’s not a crime to “unfollow” anyone. If you’ve followed someone for sometime and they add nothing to you, don’t hesitate to press the unfollow button. Yes. Even if the person is a whale. You need people who will support you to grow here.
- Seek to add value. Add value with your posts. People like to hunt and go after quality food. So it is with steemit. When you add value to people’s lives, they’ll naturally gravitate towards you.
- Learn. Keep learning to increase your knowledge on steemit and the cryptocurrency world.
So these are the things I learnt yesterday. As always, before I drop my pen for today, I want to thank the Antigenic Revolution Recruitment Scheme led by @antigenx, @brightfame, @lorenzo1420, @joagawu, @sammyswt and the entire @steem-x family. You’re the reason why I’m here and will succeed too. Thank you.
And to the steemit family, thank you for having me here.

Thank you @insideoutlet for your support. The @asapers make my journey here worthwhile.
For better or worse, the only way to make it on here is to join the communities and get to know people. Hopefully this keeps the talented and willing to work among us around!
Yes. You're very correct @cygon. Joining communities makes the journey easier, and I'm sure minnows will be supported to grow through them. Thanks

Hello @evarich
Am also an @euronation member and sorry for your kicked ass. I hope you have been added back to the group.
@dobartim is a very good steemian and have been learning a lot about him lately.
@olanrewaju
Hahahaha, I haven't been added back but that's not a problem anymore.
Yes, @dobartim is a good steemian with a heart to help others grow.
Thanks @olanrewaju
Your right about the importance of leaving proper engaged comments.
Its especially important when you are reading the posts of other plankton sometimes our own little vote doesn't do much to encourage others
A propper comment showing you took the time to read the post they spent time and effort on can make their day.
@evarich Very good information that you have given us in this post. Best regards
This is a really helpful post of people new to Steemit. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Every person benefits when we share knowledge, which is one of the best things about this community.
