Great post. Thanks for pointing out the other benefits of learning music at a young age. I have seen the many differences in academic and professional success that having a background in music provides. It is a shame that it has largely been abandoned by the current educational system in the U.S. I found you through the #payitforward contest. You were featured by @bengy. Congratulations.
Thank you! I think neglect of music education is rampant in a lot of countries. In mine, it's bad enough that only a few people who graduate from a music ed program actually stay in the country to teach. I see music educators who do their best to provide a proper education, but without changing the mindset of the majority of people here, who think of music as just a means for entertainment, it would be hard for music education to be considered relevant to a child's education. By relevant, I mean as something that could nurture and help in a kid's growth, not just in skills, but in various areas that can be developed.
