Education [ Does it need to be changed? ]
this will probably bring to light a lot of things wrong with education and possibly a way to fix it seeing as the education system will not test for critical thinking or the use of the knowledge.
No instead it only tests memory, and how well you can solve the same thing over and over again, being tested each step of the way.
Sounds a lot like the life most people live, doing the same tasks over and over, what have any of those tests actually helped you accomplish in the every day living, aside from being a burden from student debt struggeling to find a job in the field you were studying?
Not one person can say they truly loved school, it has never been a fun environment because children were taught to keep their head down and to hold their hand up, creativity is being killed in the classroom and I cannot blame the teachers for this ; when they are in a room filled with children it is a tough job to keep their attention while they learn ; if they want to learn that subject in the first place.
If a child truly wants to learn something, they will memorize every aspect of what that comes with ; each responsibility, My nephew has just turned ten years old, and has a tough time at school, communicating with people what he wants, and he is limited by his capability to learn what he wants, when the school system has a strict curriculum they must go through ; although i have seen this child, play a video game and communicate exactly what he needs his team to do, out numbered and against all odds he finishes the game single highhandedly.
I was truly amazed when i found out that not only does he play this well with a team, but on a very hard difficulty that would have any new player give up, as well as only having one life for the entire round.
He is invested in learning what he needs to accomplish to finish his goal, and he set up a plan and pulled it without fail. he has memorized each location on the map, the best vantage points, where all of the best equipment is located and when they spawn, and how long it takes for a new one to come up ; he has everything put down to a science and is truly incredible to watch him play.
Just the other day he managed to show me something that blew my mind away like never before.
I have been playing with lego since i was a child, and of course I showed some building skills, then he pulls one out that I have never seen before, placing a thin brick sideways in between the pegs of another brick - creating a wall.
This may sound strange but it blew my mind, and all he could do was laugh at me and i did not know why he was laughing.
Children are so smart ; teachers should 100% in every way possible - let them use their imagination .
Children should be taught much more then what they are learning in school, like
Critical thinking and use of knowledge.
Truth and compassion.
Love and hate.
Good and evil.
Teaching children about things that are hard to talk about can expand their mind on real problems that can be solved just by a simple change of view.
All it takes is a little imagination.
Now as for a little DIY project i have been trying to convince my nephew to test
(not too sure if it works just a theory) ; MAGNETS !
I love magnets !
My nephew loves fidget spinners, in fact he sells them at his school, and they are of course metal, which should be magnetic depending on the type of metal used as well as the weights.
Well the center can be taken out to replace ball bearings and maintenance related issues .
So i have been telling him to replace the center with a magnet, one strong enough to pull or push the weights that are used at the end of the spinner - also the ball bearings must be replaced with a weight, but non metal.
Now in order for this theory to work, it must have 3 weights ; as a magnet has a N and S end - meaning if there are two weights, it will stop at the north and south end of the magnet.
If there is a third, the extra weight, should off set the magnet and cause it to always be pushing one away while pulling one towards the other side.
If my theory is correct - the spinner should continue for as long as the magnet holds power ; and if the blades on the spinner are tilted at an angle, it should also have some sort of lift ; meaning if it is spinning fast enough or if it is light enough it will hover in mid air - i have suggested using a 3D printer to make our own spinners for this project.
He is still on the video games !
If anyone would like to try to test this theory - please let me know how well it works, if it works at all .
