Oregano (Calabo) Leaves
Oregano leaves are used as herbal medicine and some used this for cooking too.
My son is having a cough right now. I don't want to take him to the doctor right away. I'm afraid he will be prescripted antibiotics. As much as possible, I don't want my kids to be dependent on antibiotics bought from pharmacies. Instead, I use these Oregano leaves to treat my son.
Whenever my kids are sick, I just boil the leaves and let them drink it. Believe me, it's effective. When we were kids, my mom used this to treat our coughs too. We have lots of oregano plant in our frontyard before. There is no need for us to buy medicine for cough.
The problem is my son hates taking medicines or even drinking teas. So, I just mix the oregano tea in his milk. The taste is just mild, that's why he doesn't notice it. I will be mixing this in his milk for 2 to 3 days and hopefully his cough will be gone.
If it worked on us, it will work on you too. I suggest you also plant oregano in your yard. It really has lots of benefits.
HOW TO PREPARE OREGANO TEA?
- Get 10 t0 15 pieces of oregano leaves.
- Wash the leaves thoroughly.
- Put them in a pot.
- Add 2 to 3 cups of water.
- Let it boil for 10 minutes.
- Then it's ready!
You can also add honey and lemon juice in it, so it will be tastier.

Me also sis, i used oregano, pero pag almost na 1 week dili pa gihapon mawala, ako na ipa check up sis.
My mother used to make some oregano tea when Im sick. How i wish my mom's still here.. hehehe..
Oh sorry to hear that @jenpotgb. Anyway, we do the same thing before. My mom also used oregano as our medicine especially to our coughs.

Oregano ba is "kalabo" in bisaya? We always use this in our family sis. Sobrang effective. Kaso ang sagwa ng lasa. Lol!
Ou kalabo xa sa bisaya. Haha.. yung amoy kc nya di maganda. Pero yung lasa ok lang naman bsta wag masyadong madaming dahon ilagay mo sa pagpakulo..
