Things You Need To Know About Ostrich
Hello steemians, my great brethren from the community that has been improving and doing a lot in lives through skill acquisition and development, by opportunities many has been looking for and now seen in this great community.
I want to discuss a little about an animal, the largest land bird, and some few facts about it.
The largest land bird is the Ostrich, known as Struthio camelus (Scientific name).
Do you know that an ostrich can run at a pace of 70km/hr.
This bird lays eggs, but I’m glad to inform you that amazingly, one of ostrich eggs is equivalent to 24 (2 dozens) of chicken eggs. And would you believe that it takes approximately 2 hours to boil this egg.

The ostrich eggs are edible, just that it takes 2 hours to boil.
Though, one person can’t eat this egg at a sitting. It is best served to a family or a large gathering. But it is beneficial to health as it has lower cholesterol and lower in saturated fat compared to chicken eggs.
Now, I want you to note this, and learn;
Do you know that both male and female ostrich incubates the eggs. That is they share responsibilities. So men should learn from this bird.
The female ostrich incubates the eggs during the day, while the male ostrich does incubates the eggs at night.
It doesn’t stop there, the male still goes ahead to defend the hatchlings and still teach them to feed.
The male and female ostrich raise the hatchlings together. One of the characteristics missing in parenting in this generation. Our children are missing times where both parents agree to raise them, and spend time with them. Rather, they see on of the two parties often and rarely does the other spend time with them. In fact most fathers don’t know much of their children’s upbringing, and unfortunately, you will see that even our mothers too are already doing this too, leaving the upbringing of the children to one of them, or a nanny.

Do you know also that an ostrich kicks and it’s kick can kill a human, even a lion.
