The children are not perfect
No child is perfect in the classroom but they are all special to me. I try to focus on the positive and not the negative behaviors.
I have 15 children in my classroom and none of them are perfect. Some of these children are in single family homes, being raised by grand parents,Aunts and uncles and foster care. And some are being raised by both parents. They all make bad choices at times and good choices at other times.
I have children that hit, kick, won't keep their hands to themselves and don't share toys. They will take other childrens food or knock someone elses food on the floor. My school use color charts and the colors range from pink to red. I know some people don't like color charts but that is your choice. I think they are a good tool in the classroom.
I think teachers don't use color charts in the right way. I say that because some teachers only move the childs clip on the color chart down for bad behavior but never up for the good behavior. I see teachers do that everyday. Yes, some of my children go home on red everyday and some go home on pink everyday. But you also see children who get excited and proud of themselves when they have been on red yesterday and go home on pink today.
If a teacher uses a color chart right they move the childs clip to reflect the childs behavior. It goes up to chart good behavior and down for sad behavior.
Some parents will say you don't like their child and that why they are on a sad color. I write on their childs daily sheet the things that put them on the sad color for that day. It helps with the parents seeing why their child in on a certain color.
Things happen in childrens lives that can change the way they are acting. Someone could of died, they have been removed from their parents home, They haven't been sleeping at night, they are hungry. There is a lot of reasons they act out. This is where you need to be communicating with the people who are raising the child.
So very true not many like you, my husband @methusalem is just as great as you are. you should read his story from yesterday, very funny but true if you feel like it.
I will check his story out.
I read and loved his post.
The educational systems need more teachers like you. Caring, loving, and understanding. No person knows what has happened in a child’s life to trigger “outbursts”. What all children need is Love.
Thank you.All children need to feel they are cared for. As a teacher I find they feel how their teacher feels about them love is so easy to give a child.
Kudos to you for taking the time to make each child feel special. You were born to be a teacher.
Thank you @cecicastor
Those who know how to think need no teachers.
