Holidays around the world

This year we are doing winter holidays around the world. We are doing Christmas,Hanukka,Kwanzaa are the Holidays we try to do things for.

Kwanzaa is a African American holiday celebrated from December 26 through January 1. It is not a religious holiday. A kinara is lit everyday of the holiday.

For a decoration We will be making a handprint Kinara. Use the last three fingers on each hand for the outside cadles and use a thumb for the center candle.

Hanukka is a Jewish holiday this year it is celebrated from December 12 to December 20th. It is celebrated for 8 days also known as the festival of lights. Lighting the menorah is done everyday for 8 days. A dreidel is a toy the children play with.
As a art project the children will be making a stain glass dreidel using contact paper and different colored tissue paper.

Christmas in the main holiday celebrated by the children at the preschool I work at.
For christmas the children will be painting popcycle sticks green and decorate them then we hot glue the popcyclesticks together in a triangle shape and inside we will put a picture of the child as a christmas gift.

We teach about other Holiday at the school even if most of the children celebrate Christmas.
