WATERPASS is a ground measurement tool used to measure the height difference between two or more points.

Steps to use the WATERPASS tool

Make sure the horizontal line of the diaphragm on the waterpass is in a position perpendicular to the axis I. Most parts also called horizontal threads have been designed in such a way by the manufacturer to be perpendicular to the axis I.
Set the position of the nivo direction line so that it is perpendicular to the axis I. If the axis I has been positioned vertically, then the nivo bubble will remain balanced even though the binoculars are turned around. This means that the level of flatness of the crosshairs has always been fixed flat.
Create a viewfinder in a position parallel to the nivo line. The goal is that we can make sure the line is completely flat. Keep in mind, which is used to measure the height of the dots will be just a horizontal line of sight.
The vertical line is the line that leads to the earth and its value is equal to the descending line.
Horizontal plane is a field whose position is always perpendicular to the vertical line. This horizontal plane shape is slightly curved to follow the sea surface shape.
Datum field is the field that serves as a reference to determine the altitude.
Start using the waterpass by creating a horizontal axis. Notice the position of its level through the nivo tube.
On a major scale, know the degree and minute by paying attention to the needle that squeezes on the scale. Remember, every point on the main scale has a value of 10 '.
While on a nonius scale, know the size of the needle that coincides with the scale. Remember, the magnitude of every angle on the nonius scale is 20 ".
How to read the measurement of the height of the points using the waterpass is by summing the results of the main scale reading plus the scale of nonius.
