I'm surprised your students manage to get 300+ signatures! If this happened in KL where there are already tons of people wearing vests and asking for signatures, everyone would just ignore your students. If they were lucky enough to get someone like me to listen to them, I would just tell them "Please don't waste my time" then walk away. Unless, they tell me its for a class and its all in good fun la - I'm not that mean.
Well they targeted tourists, so it was smart of them to do that and I think some thought that an actual endangered species was in jeopardy.
