How the inverted classroom works

The Inverted Classroom is a model of teaching in which traditional methods are inverted, including technology in activities outside of class and bringing, within it, the duty of home. In this way, the student assumes an active position in their learning process, while the teacher becomes a facilitator, instead of being the source of all knowledge.
By transforming the traditional model, the inverted classroom method causes students to study at home, at their own pace, communicating with colleagues and teachers through online discussions. To complement, the commitment and motivation are stimulated by the teacher in the classroom.

Educational technology and learning activity are two key components for the inverted classroom model. Both influence student learning in fundamental ways.
The inverted classroom uses educational technology to opportunize the absorption of content through activities.

How it all began?

Many factors influenced the creation and adoption of the inverted classroom model. However, two innovators played the leading role. In 2007, teachers Jonathan Bergman and Aaron Sams, at Woodland Park High School in Colorado, discovered software that allowed recording presentations. They then went on to use the program to publish the classes online, allowing students who had been absent to access the content.

The two began to be called to talks and their methodology was extended, causing professors from different parts to use online videos and podcasts to teach content outside the classroom. Class time was used for collaborative works and important exercises on the subject studied online.
