THE TORTURE: WORDS ARE ENOUGH TO KILL SOMEONES DREAM
Actions prove who someone is, Words prove what they just want to be.
I am a quiet person and not a social freak. It doesn’t mean I don’t have friends but I have this behavior that I don’t wanna hear any negative thoughts or most likely words that can stab your back. If I wear to choose?
EMOTIONAL OR PHYSICAL TORTURE?
I’d rather fo to the physical one.At least you can feel it for just a day but with words? You can feel it every single day of your life as you remember the things that hurt you the most.
Well, if you have nothing good to say, don’t say anything at all.
We’ve all heard this quote but how many of us are actually doing this? How many of us actually keep our mouths shut whenever we find out about bad things about others? How many of us try our best not to spread gossip no matter how “juicy” it is? How many of us can resist eavesdropping itself?
Truth is, how hardly you tried. Most of us can’t… most of us won’t.
THREE TYPES OF PEOPLE
Messenger
Let’s start with the Messenger. He starts the gossip by spreading it, whether it’s the truth or a different version of it. The people in this category never realize the damage they are about to create. These people have no business or right to interfere with matters that don’t concern them. They never realize how big of a deal it is until they are faced with the consequences of their actions and come face to face with the damage that they themselves have created.
Bridge
Next, the Bridge. This is the person who is in between the Messenger and the Receiver. These people obtain the information by hearing it either accidentally or intentionally (eavesdropping). The Bridge may be a Messenger as well when he chooses to spread the news that he has heard.
Receiver
Last but not the least, the Receiver. It’s in the name, he is the one who receives the gossip. Whether this person asks to hear it or someone just tells them regardless, the Receiver always has to face the choice on either doing the right thing and keeping it to themselves, or becoming a Messenger as well and creating another cycle of new Receivers, Bridges, and Messengers. Basically we all know who these people are because we have all been them at some point; the question is, how often are we more so the Receiver than the Messenger or the Bridge, that and vice versa.
Are you more often the Messenger, The Bridge, or the Receiver?
Words are a powerful thing, what you say has the power to build someone up or tear them down. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks – what comes out of your mouth defines who you are and what other people may think of you. The tongue is a two-edged sword which has the power to hurt someone through words even more than an actual blade. Never underestimate the damage someone can cause to another’s life simply by using their tongue to spread lies or even tell the truth. After all, the truth can be harsh and painful – especially if it’s something that you didn’t want others to know or weren’t ready to hear yourself.
I think its a spectrum, we all must have been one of these positions one way or another..By the way, do keep your posts to education based tags if you are using the steemiteducation tag
