Rookie Mistakes Being Made On Steemit

With the Steemit platform being only a couple of years old and being somewhat different to other social media platforms there are always going to be teething problems when newbies come on to the platform, as many are so excited that they forget to read the guides on the site mixed the good old saying "Treat others how you would like to be treated".

We are all excited to be here other wise we wouldn't be coming back, so here are some quick Rookie Mistakes not to make.

Welcome

If you read the Welcome and Faq everything are in these two articles with many links to information and answers, this may take a while to go through but well worth your time, like anything in life we need to learn and learning right from the get go is a great help.

Rookie Mistakes

In no order at all

Don't use copyright material try and use your own pictures, if you can't there are many sites where you can use CCO (Creative Commons), Free to use pictures, unlicensed pictures - you can find many posts on steemit refferring you to many sites that have picture you can use - (go to the search on Steemit, on the top of the page on the left next to promoted, type in free to use picture sites, or creative common picture sites, there should be posts that come up with sites, always read the sites policy's, and always link back to the picture that you use within your post.)
Which you can see we have done on the pictures we use.
This also goes for text, try and use your own knowledge on subjects, but if your adding a little bit of text as reference put the source and link back to the site.
Share your knowledge and thoughts.

Begging

Spamming in the comments of others posts I followed you, now it's turn to do the same, Or I'm new follow me - either way you dress it up others see this as begging, read posts you can let them know your new or just came across there blog, but also write about the content of the post.
Also spamming in the comments nice post, thanks for sharing, please upvote me - write about what you have just read, you may of been in the same situation, or been looking for the information the post is sharing etc etc write from the heart.
What you write determines if people connect to you or not by comments, this is another way to be seen on the platfrom, represent yourself well.

Spreading The Love

In society they try to bang into us that sharing is caring, sharing the bugs of a splattered cough, or the findings of your digging up your nose canal wiped on someone else is not a caring share but a upvote is sharing, but did you know you only have limited sharing power that takes 24 hours or more to replenish depending how depleted it is.
You can see this on busy.org when you log in with your Steemit account.
An idea - choose a few posts a day to upvote look at your account through busy to see where your limit is, you want to split some of that with others comments to upvote also.
An upvote is a gift to someone else, you gift because you like their knowledge or information they are sharing with you.

Interaction

Upvote, comment, resteem, follow those that you gain knowledge, information from that you are generally happy to soak up and read their posts, not because you will gain a higher reward for being around their blog post.
There are many group on discord, steemit chat where you can interact with other steemians remember
"Friendship is like a tree that needs to grow" - (Thank you @MorkRock for sharing this great saying)

Look at many different posts not just treading or those that you know, there are many great posts that go unnoticed, (@the-curator will be starting back up shortly and sharing some more undervalued posts for 2018) there are people from all around the world and English is not their first language or they may not know English, they are trying really hard to communicate in English and write to their best knowledge in the limited English they know, the way they speak may be different from where you come from check out there posts also, you might be be surprised what knowledge they might share.
If you would like to learn other language there are free online language course on Alison there is only nine languages at the moment - English being one of them.

You may have a limitation on voting, for newbies you also have bandwidth which means your limited on commenting also, so make each comment count, comment on posts that interest you, that you learnt from, you may be able to add some of your knowledge also.

Thank you for posting this so rookie like me doesn't have to make mistakes like this.

No worries at all @zahrul31 glad it can be of help

I know I read through the welcome section when I first joined, but probably forgot a lot once I dived into the Steemit world. We should all probably go back occasionally for a refresher. :)

I can't even remember the welcome section when I first joined it was so new, that all came though, but is a great idea to refresh, I know I need to especially the markdown section.

For me, it has been frustrating that I've had to hunt for helpful information, and then after reading it I find it is out of date. There is no easy 'filing system' on Steemit, although some are working on collecting the most useful posts into one spot - on Discord servers for example.

Even that markdown guide, if I remember rightly, doesn't list all the functions one might want to do, and so I've had to hunt for those too. I have a lot of guides saved in a Steemit favourites folder, lol.

i will agree with you

A lot of Steemians need posts like this and not just the rookies. Reason is so many are new to the world of blogging and don't know that gained attention needs time patience and a lot of work....

Thanks for sharing

Wow the post is cool, the story is also nice easy to understand. Please vote got me yes

good post about Steam. I like it. I know a lot of friends who did not exhibit their photo.

Thank you @olegas89, alot of people don't put their own photo's, there maybe many reasons, it may depend on the post, I know I don't always use my own pictures, but use CCO sites to display pictures.

yes .. me too
