It was Monday morning and all went on their bicycles to school. 

They were happy, all their homework was done and life just felt good. 

Having friends is so nice and no one was nasty when the two boys told them about the day in the forest. They showed them the photos of the baby kingfishers.

They all had wonderful weekends and discussing it as they cycled to school. 

When they got there they all said see you at break and went their separate ways. 

Luckily Jared and Luan were in the same class. The teacher could see that these kids were really happy and this made her whole day worthwhile. 

I have a big surprise for all of you, she said after they came back from their time in the hall, like every Monday morning. 

They were very inquisitive and could not wait for her to tell them what it was.

We are going to have a maths multiplication Olympics here in the class  and I want all of you to take part. The only thing you have to know, are your multiplication tables. When they heard that they were really impressed, and knew she was one smart lady.

She had been trying to get them to learn their tables and most of them still did not know them at all. This was her way of motivating them to learn and they loved any competition. Some of the kids did not look so happy, but they knew they would have to learn now as they did not want to look bad when the results came out.

At break time they told their friends about it and said we realise she wants you to know your multiplication tables, we think we must get our teachers to do the same. 

Then the best 3 from every class can have a competition and see which class is the best. 

That does sound like a wonderful idea, and just think of all the fun we will have. After break they all went back to their classes and asked. This was now big thing at school as they had something to look forward to and knew that it can only do them all good. 

When Luan and Jared rode home they decided to learn together. My mother can help us and we will really try our best. It would be so wonderful if our class can be the winners. 

They asked and she said that sounds very good and we will start tomorrow. Just as Jared wanted to leave Luan’s mother said, we will eat, your father asked me to keep you here in the afternoon until he gets home.

He bought a lot of groceries that he said we must use to be able to have a nice lunch every afternoon. Now you can do your homework together and you have time to do things together just like you did your school project. 

Jared was very happy and thanked Luan’s mother. Oh mother that will be so nice then we can both help you before the baby come and make your baby room the way you want it.

That does sound like a good idea Luan you guys and such angels and I am happy. 

We will go and get some books sometime to get some ideas of what we want to do. 

That does sound like lots of fun. Ok come and have your lunch, and change your clothes.

 It was a wonderful lunch and then they played just a little bit before they started their homework.
