MAYBE YOUR CHILD IS NOT NAUGHTY, THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING WRONG.

I had a friend working with me, she was such a wonderful person. 

I could not believe she had this awful little boy who would just not listen and was forever shouting. 

One day she brought him to work, as she did not know how to handle him, and she found it just terrible to see this child shouting all the time and throwing tantrums without reason.

He was about two years old and he was just impossible to handle. I normally get along with children very well and tried everything.

 I spoke to him nicely and he would throw a tantrum. 

I then started thinking, this child cannot hear and he was very frustrated. I told her that I think he cannot hear. 

As mothers are they never want to think that there is something wrong with their child.

She told me I was crazy and he was just naughty. I asked her if she had ever had him tested and she said no because there is nothing wrong with him he is just naughty.

 After a few days being with him at work I started testing him on my own. I dropped things behind him when he was looking at pictures in a book and he did not even move. I also shouted out his name and he did not react. This made me very certain that I was right and begged her to take him to a doctor for testing.

She said she would but she was sure I was wrong as he is just a boy and frustrated. I asked her why he would be frustrated. He eats his food just like everyone else and looks through story books and plays on his own when he is alone. 

Once you start talking to him he gets frustrated and he starts doing these very bad tantrums. 

She decided to take him and found that he was 100% deaf. It was a shock to her but at least she knew why he was reacting so badly. 

They told her that he would have to go to a special school for the deaf and there was only one far from where we were living.

To tell you the truth it must have been difficult for her but once she realised his problem, she did everything to move to the town where the school was. 

I got a letter from her thanking me as she said he was a wonderful boy and once he understood and communicate in his own way he never through tantrums again.

That was many years ago, I have not heard from her and lost contact but I really hope with all the new technology to our exposure that they would have been able to help him later on. 

I would really love to know what happened but he was happy there between people who he found that was just like him. 

So parents before you decide your child is just naughty make sure there is not maybe something really wrong with them and try to help. 

It was very satisfying to hear that he had changed into a wonderful little boy at the time. 

So sometimes we do not think further as we do not want anything to be wrong with our children but if there is please find out what it is and help them.

 This is a true story from very long ago and today things have changed so much that if your child is deaf maybe there will be a solution.
