Luan very sad.

Luan woke up and could not believe that the holiday was over, it was such a wonderful time he had, he did not think life could be so interesting.

He dressed for school and went to have breakfast. His father had a surprise for him. He told him he may now go to school with his bicycle as it was nearer than the horse farm and would mean his mother could sleep a little later. 

Oh that does sound wonderful, now I can tell my friends to pick me up when they pass our house every day with their bikes. 

He finished kissed his mom and said his dad does not have to worry he will get home faster and she will be safe as he will always make her some tea and keep; her happy.

I cannot wait to tell my friends that I am going to have a brother or a sister. Once he got to school on his bike his friends were thrilled that they could go riding together now. They all went into the class and waited for their teacher. When she walked in, she was smiling and said did you all have fun this holiday. 

Oh yes they all said. We think Luan had the best one he went to Cape Town. We visited him when he came back and he has the most beautiful photos you can think of. 

Why do we not make it a project for the class? Every child has to make a project of his past holiday and it will count 20% of your yearly mark. 

I am sure there are other children who also had nice holidays and then when you hand them in I can decide who did the best work on your project. There is only one rule, which not one of you is allowed to get any help from your parents. I will know immediately. 

That does sound like a lot of fun one of the other children said, but can we not work in a group of two so that we can help each other. The wonderful idea Jared, now who do you want to help. Miss if I may please I want to help Luan, as I have never been down to the cape and he will tell me a lot, so I can then help him with the pictures. 

Luan what do you say. Oh miss that sounds wonderful that will mean I will make a new friend as well. The teacher felt very happy as she knew that Jared really did not have an easy life and she knew that it would be very good for Jared to mix with a good family. 

At break time Luan called Jared to one side and asked him where he stayed, he told him and Jared realised it was not the best area to live in as it was the people who really struggled to survive who lived there. Ok. Luan said. What we will do I will ask my dad to pick us up from school on Friday and you can come and stay with us for the weekend. We can then really make a wonderful project and we can have a lot of fun. 

Give me your phone number so that my mother can phone yours to get permission for you to come. That will not work Luan as I do not have a mother but she can phone my father, he is always working so I will give you his number. Luan could not believe his ear’s does anyone look after you when you get home from school. I look after myself of course. Suddenly Luan felt very sad, here he has been living the life of a king and here is a little boy who has no mother and no one to look after him but his father. Who make the food at your house then Luan asked?  

I do, my father taught me how to boil an egg and how to make a sandwich.

We are really happy when he is at home, but sometimes I sleep alone as he drives a lorry and cannot always get back in time.

The people next door always listen out for me when I sleep alone as they do not have room to take me in as well. 

Suddenly Luan realised for the first time how much he really had to be thankful for and even felt like crying for this little boy.

 After school Luan could not get home fast enough to tell his mother what had happened and she cried with him.

Please don’t worry Luan we will make a plan to help him and I am sure dad might even have a better idea.

That night Luan said an extra prayer, for his new friend, and thanked God for the wonderful life he was given and lived. I hope you enjoyed my story and we will go on tomorrow. I am to sad now to write any further. Have a wonderful day from me and may you all be blessed.
