"Doe, a deer, a female deer ♪♪♪..." maybe you know this song, or maybe you know about 'Rudolph the red nosed reindeer ♪♪♪..' but you have heard about a deer before.

Deer belong to the family 'Cervidae' and also moose, reindeer and elk, belong to the same family.

Male deer do not have horns, but they have antlers which falls off and regrows every year.  Many other antelope have horns and the main difference between antlers and horns are that horns do not fall off or regrow.  You can read more about it here.

The male deer will also use its antlers to fight other males over a female during mating season.

A male deer is usually called a ‘buck’.
A large male deer is often called ‘stag’.
A female deer is usually called a ‘doe’.
A young deer is usually called a ‘fawn’.
A group of deer is known as a ‘herd’.

Deer has long legs and this helps them in the area they live to jump high and run over rocky terrain.  They can also swim very well.

The baby deer is usually born with spots on it, but will loose it as they get older. They are able to walk within an hour of their birth. They will stay with their mom for around a year.

At first I was not sure that deer are real then I just thought that is what the Americans call them like they call "servette" napkins or chips and fries , then they threw in Antelope and I was certain they now just trying to be fancy. Want vir my is bok 'n bok anders is dit 'n buck :) !tip 1

Hahahaha I have the same problem - when speaking to the kids in class about antelope I end up using buck. But I do like the idea of reindeer
